Women are posting black and white pictures of themselves to Instagram with the hashtag #ChallengeAccepted and tagging other women who inspire them.

This trend is to promote female empowerment, with many of the posts including the hashtag #womensupportingwomen. The goal is that by tagging other women, either privately by DM or publicly in the posted black and white photo, women are showing their appreciation for other women. It is a way to spread positivity during this difficult time.

Many celebrities have partaken in this challenge, including actress Katherine McNamara.

“Now is the time for unity, respect, and love,” wrote McNamara in a recent Instagram post. “I’m proud to stand with the strong, brilliant women who have supported, stood by, and encouraged me in my life and career. Thank you and I hope to follow in your footsteps.”

Singer JoJo also participated, and she nominated her friend and actress Francia Raisa.

“Being a woman is a magical experience,” wrote JoJo in a recent Instagram post. “I’m so grateful for the beautiful beings that have inspired me, uplifted me, challenged me, and made [me] who I am today. There is something so incredibly powerful about those of us who’ve been pitted against each other coming together in love, strength, harmony, and celebration.”

Raisa accepted JoJo’s challenge and posted her own black and white selfie.

“I’m so lucky to have such a strong core group of women in my life who support and show up for one another,” wrote Raisa in a recent Instagram post. “Life is so beautiful when we uplift and encourage each other rather than compete. When we hold each others hand and look each other in the eye and say ‘I got you.’”

Many other female celebrities have participated in this challenge, including actresses Bella Thorne, Janel Parrish, Sydney Park, Nikki SooHoo, and Carissa Culiner.

To participate, upload a picture of yourself to Instagram, use the black and white filter, and tag one or more women who inspire you. Use the hashtags #ChallengeAccepted and #womensupportingwomen.
