Tiffany Haddish Admits Her Fear of Having Children Due to Racism
On an episode of NBA star Carmelo Anthony’s YouTube series ‘What’s In Your Glass’, Tiffany Haddish revealed that racial tensions make her fearful to have children.
During an episode of What’s In Your Glass, Tiffany and Carmelo covered a various amount of subject matters including motherhood. Tiffany later began to list her fears in raising a child in this world, given its current climate.
“I’m a little older now and people are always asking when I’m gonna have some babies. There’s a part of me that would like to do that, and I always make up these excuses like, ‘Oh, I need a million dollars in the bank before I do that, I need this, I need that.’ But really, it’s like, I would hate to give birth to someone that looks like me … knowing that they’re gonna be hunted or killed. Like, why would I put someone through that?,” said Tiffany Haddish on What’s In Your Glass.
Tiffany went on to explain that the white community does not have this initial reaction when planning their future. Carmelo Anthony agreed with her above-statement mentioning, “it’s scary to even think about that.”
“It’s time to talk about that, and how we have to come together as a community and work as a unit, and maybe we don’t all agree on the same things, but we need to just find some common ground and move forward as human beings,” Tiffany continued.
She concluded her and Carmelo’s candid conversation by commending the Black Lives Matter movement and nation-wide protests for helping restore her faith in humanity. She believes this can be the kick-start to dismantling systemic racism.
This is very sad that she feels this way. Nobody should ever have to live with this fear about having and raising children.

Carmelo later inquired if Tiffany had a message for the younger generations of Black women.
“My message to them would be to get informed, be as informed as possible, don’t be afraid to get involved in your community and live your best life, be your best self, be you. There is nothing wrong with you… Don’t try to be me. Just be yourself, because when you be yourself, it saves you a whole lot of stress,” She responded.
Hopefully, Tiffany’s words of encouragement help lead our country in the right direction. See here, to watch the full episode of What’s In Your Glass.
