Rihanna Introduces SPF Products in Fenty Skincare Line

Fenty Skin

Given the launch of Rihanna’s new skincare line, Fenty Skin, the pop icon has been reflecting upon her own skincare faux pas.

As previously reported by Glitter Magazine, Rihanna’s new line features cleansers, toners, and SPF-infused moisturizers. The starlet was inspired to create Fenty Skin in light of her insecurities about her skin.

Reflecting upon her venture into the skincare market, Rihanna recalled one major faux pas she’s committed against her skin: not wearing sunscreen. Growing up in Barbados, the star perceived sunscreen as a “tourist thing” and opted out of wearing it.

But Rihanna felt the weight of her error when she noticed sun damage and discoloration appearing on her skin.  Now a major SPF-advocate, the singer hopes to share the importance of skincare in the sun. She especially urges young Black women to heed her warning.

You always thought that SPF was a tourist thing, and especially not for black people,” the star explained. “I think the biggest misconception with SPF, in particular, is that black people don’t need it. And as a woman of color, I am here to say that’s a lie. We need it, and we need it every day.

In terms of her music, Rihanna’s most recent studio album, Anti-, celebrated its fourth anniversary this past January. Although she currently has a new album in the works, she’s yet to announce its official title or release date. However, the star has teased that her upcoming record has strong reggae influences.
