In a new promotional clip for her upcoming talk show, Drew Barrymore sits down with her seven-year-old self for an adorable interview.

Drew Barrymore has been gracing our screens in television shows and blockbuster films for the past four decades and her latest venture doesn’t stray too far from that.

Appropriately named The Drew Barrymore Show, the award-winning actress will be the host of a daytime talk show premiering this fall.

To promote the program, which comes to CBS on September 14, Barrymore filmed a short commercial with a special guest: herself.

That’s right, with the help of modern technology, a great production team, and some TV magic, the star put together a scene with her childhood self using old footage from when she was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1982.

At the time of the interview Drew was only seven years old and was promoting the cult-classic Steven Spielberg hit, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial – the movie that made her a household name overnight.

“Please welcome… Drew Barrymore!” 2020 Drew announces, in which 1982 Drew replies with “I’ve been waiting all my life to meet you.”

The video continues and the two chat about the show, how Drew currently has two real-life daughters, and they even practice screaming together. (A spoof on her memorable scene in ET.)

This promotional clip is an amazing way to promote the actress’ show as it includes so much personality, generation-spanning sentiment, and everything else you would expect from a seven-year-old being interviewed by her 45-year-old self.

Fans and friends of the Santa Clarita Diet star rushed to the comment section to let her know just how adorable, nostalgic and charming the video is.

On Instagram, Jimmy Fallon commented, “Okay, this is the best thing I’ve ever seen,” and Cameron Diaz wrote “STOP!!! OMG THIS IS GONNA BE EVEN BETTER THAN I THOUGHT!!”

In the wake of the negative attention The Ellen Show and Ellen Degeneres herself is facing and the drama surrounding James Corden replacing the comedian on the talk show, fans of Barrymore’s want her to be the “next Ellen,” with her own new show coming to daytime.

The Drew Barrymore Show is already making its way onto our screens and into our hearts with this new clip, so we’re more than happy with that and can’t wait for its premiere on CBS September 14.
