Meet the Georgia Student Who Was Suspended for Posting Pictures of Crowded Hallways
Meet the brave young woman who got suspended after she shared pictures of the crowded hallway of her high school amid the pandemic.
Hannah Watters is a 15-year-old student who just started the school year at North Paulding High School in Georgia. In the first two days of the school year, Watters posted pictures of the hallways of her school to show what most school districts in the country are struggling with as students resume on-campus learning.

“I took it mostly out of concern and nervousness after seeing the first day of school,” Hannah told CNN in an interview. Watters continues, “I was concerned for the safety of everyone in the building and everyone in the county, because precautions and the guidelines the CDC has been telling us for months now weren’t being followed.” Watters was suspended after being told she violated the school’s code of conduct for releasing a picture and video of students to social media without the student’s consent. This comes after a report surfacing of an outbreak of Covid-19 on the school’s football team.
The Superintendent of the school district recently released a statement to the student’s parents saying “There is no question that the photo does not look good… Wearing masks is a personal choice, and there is no practical way to enforce a mandate to wear them.”

The brave young teenager does not regret posting the image and video to Twitter. “I’d like to say this was some good and necessary trouble, so I don’t regret posting this,” Watters tells CNN. The high school sophomore has had her suspension reversed and cleared from her record early on Friday, August 7.
Watters will return to school Monday, August 10.
