Both CBS’s late-night shows The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and The Late Late Show With James Corden are returning to the studio.

Colbert and Corden have been filming their late-night shows since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both show hosts have tried to make the most of the situation as possible while entertaining their audiences in a home environment. Colbert started off by light-heartedly filming in his bathtub with the help of his wife in his South Carolina home, while James Corden filmed in a traditional formal suit and tie in the garage of his Los Angeles home.

According to Deadline, both shows should be expected to return next week. ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish revealed, “Colbert and Corden will be returning to their buildings next week, albeit with no audience.”

Deadline also reported that The Late Late Show is changing quite a bit for health and safety reasons. For example, there will not be any guests invited physically to the show, and the audience seats will be removed for the time being. Executive producers Ben Winston and Rob Crabbe expressed, “We are so excited to be back in our new look set on studio 56 at Television City and cannot wait to be making new shows staring Monday. There is nothing more important to us than the health and safety of our team, so seeing our crew safely back together again has been worth all the work and planning to get us to this point.”

The return of both late-night shows is a good sign that things are gradually returning to normalcy, and hopefully, this transition will run smoothly.
