In the past, The Harry Potter franchise has had its complications in terms of rights negotiations and TV properties. From 2001 to 2011, the films were being produced and distributed by WarnerMedia’s Warner Bros. Studios. Having been very successful in United States box offices, this lead to the release of a spinoff film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. However, the company made a deal with NBCU in 2016, which gave NBCU the digital and television rights to its franchise until 2025. WarnerMedia also made a deal with NBCU to make a release of the films to stream on May 27, earlier this year.
