Here Are the Latest Updates on Adele’s Upcoming Album
New updates on Adele’s long-awaited album have not only been hinted at but also confirmed.
Adele’s last album, 25, was released in 2015, which feels like a century ago. Fans have been begging the iconic British singer for new music for years, and in January 2020, it seemed as if their wishes might finally come true. Her manager Jonathan Dickins confirmed to Music Week at the start of the year that she would be releasing a new album and “the sooner, the better.” The album had been rumored to be released in September 2020. The singer has hinted about her excitement regarding the release of a new album for years in her social media and in her comments to fans.
However, due to the spread of COVID-19 across the globe, plans for the release of Adele’s upcoming album have come to a screeching halt. Dickins confirmed to Music Week recently that the album won’t be coming out anytime soon in the statement, “It isn’t coming in September, it’ll be ready when it’s ready.” In a recent comment on an Instagram live video of music producers Babyface and Teddy Riley, Adele also hinted that her album will be delayed in its highly-anticipated release when she wrote, “Come on, it’s 2020- we ain’t meant to get what we want!”
Adele later confirmed that her new album won’t be released any time soon when she responded to a fan’s comment on her recent photo. Posing in front of the TV wearing one of her dresses that she previously performed in, one of Adele’s latest posts incited some excitement amongst her fanbase.
In the comments below, one particularly excited fan wrote, “Teaser? Albums coming out today???!!!! Tell me now!” Adele then responded wittily, “Of course it’s not. Corona ain’t over. I’m quarantining. Wear a mask and be patient.” In confirming this disappointing news, she also urged her fanbase to follow the necessary precautions to stay safe in these unprecedented and trying times.
Although this news deeply saddens me, I applaud Adele and her team for staying safe and encouraging others to do so as well. Until this album of a brand new decade of Adele is released, you’ll find me listening to 19, 21, and 25 on repeat.
