Kali Uchis and Rico Nasty Dominate in Their New Music Video for ‘Aquí Yo Mando’
Today, Colombian-born singer Kali Uchis released the video for ‘Aquí Yo Mando,’ her new single with rapper Rico Nasty.
Uchis first teased the song on her Instagram on Wednesday, and the unexpected collab excited fans of both musicians. The song officially released on Friday, and on Saturday, Uchis announced that a video would soon follow.

Sung partially in Spanish and English, ‘Aquí Yo Mando,’ meaning “Here I Command,” is about flipping gender roles and taking control as a woman in a relationship. In the video, both Uchis and Rico Nasty show men that they’re in charge and force them to succumb to their demands.

Uchis has made it a habit to include more Spanish in her latest songs and said that all songs on her upcoming album will be sung in both languages. This is a big change from her debut album, Por Vida, which was entirely in English.
Rico Nasty, whose mother is of Puerto Rican descent, also raps a few lines in Spanish on the single. She doesn’t speak the language fluently, however, she credits Uchis for teaching her.
In April, Uchis released a surprise EP, To Feel Alive, which received positive reviews and made fans more anxious for her next album. The album was set to be released soon but has since been put on hold due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
