Marge Simpson’s Classy Response to Trump Advisor

FOX

For decades, the show The Simpsons has always been known for crude humor and seemingly predicting world events, but one of its main characters just made a direct message to a Trump advisor that could teach us all a lesson.

On August 12th, lawyer and Senior Legal Advisor for the Trump 2020 Campaign, Jenna Ellis tweeted an insult towards Vice Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris. The tweet read, “Kamala sounds like Marge Simpson.”

The creators of the iconic sitcom released a small clip two days later that featured the matriarch making a statement. The clip, just under 30 seconds, has been watched over 5 million times on twitter. While the show, which has been on the air for 31 seasons, has never shied from making a statement or commenting on the current political climate, this animated message seemed aimed at the President along with his advisor.

Marge shares that her cartoon daughter, Lisa told her that Ellis did not mean the remark as a compliment. This is when she says something significant, “As an ordinary suburban housewife, I’m starting to feel a little disrespected.” One could assume the writers added this not-so-subtle jab to the President who tweeted the same day as Ellis, that the “suburban housewife” would be voting for him in November.

Rather than stooping to the level of returning the insult, Marge Simpson ends the video addressing Ellis by telling her that she teaches her children not to name-call. A lesson I think we should all keep in mind in such divided times. Kudos to the creators for having Marge take the high road.
