Glass Animals Release a New Album, ‘Dreamland’ and Talk About Their 2021 Tour
On August 7, the English indie pop band Glass Animals released their new album, Dreamland.
Formed in 2010, Glass Animals consists of four group members, Dave Bayley, Ed Irwin-Singer, Joe Seaward, and Drew MacFarlane. Bayley acts as both a singer-songwriter and producer. Before the release of Dreamland, the band was famously known for its tracks, “Youth” and “Gooey,” both of which have accumulated nearly 50 million views on YouTube. On June 29, Glass Animals released “Heat Waves” as a teaser for Dreamland. In a short time, “Heat Waves” has accumulated 12 million streams on Spotify and quickly became the fans’ favorite.

On August 11, Glass Animals released the second version of Dreamland, which contains bonus tracks. In addition to 12 songs, it also features a remix of “Heat Waves” by Diplo and Shakur and four home movies. The band launched Dreamland merchandise, consisting of deluxe digital and signed Dreamland vinyl albums, glow in the dark t-shirts, face masks, mugs, stickers, and embroidered caps.

After a four-year hiatus and Seaward’s dangerous bike collision, which left him with a broken leg and a fractured skull, the band was unsure if it could continue making music. Dreamland focuses on the band members’ childhoods, feelings of nostalgia, childlike melodies, and themes of domestic violence and failed romance. The new album is unlike any other of Glass Animals’ previous albums. While it offers a relaxed summer rhythm and beat, it also provides introspective and reflective thoughts about the past.

Glass Animals have also released their 2021 tour dates. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the band had to end their 2020 Déjà Vu tour early and postpone the release of Dreamland, originally planned to be released in July of 2020. The 2021 Dreamland tour will take place in Europe. Glass Animals will visit Belgium, Germany, France, Netherlands, U.K, and Ireland. The majority of the tickets are sold out, and depending on the area they range in prices from €12-40.
