Have a Slumber Party at Blockbuster’s Last Store
The legendry movie rental store is going out with a bang, using its last store in the world as an Airbnb for 90’s themed sleepovers.
Blockbuster’s last open store, located in Bend, Oregon has been completely redesigned, fit with a pull-out couch, and a master entertainment center. Of course, you cannot have a movie night without snacks, which will be provided just like they would for the everyday shopper.
Blockbuster has partnered with Airbnb to host three one-night-only stays in September. Many were surprised to see a tweet from the company for the first time in six years. While others thought this was a smart business move for Blockbuster.
I miss the smell of you. Walking into the store on a Friday night 😢

This exclusive offer is only open to residents of Deschutes County, and whoever the lucky renters are will only pay $4 a night, the same cost as a movie rental. For safety purposes, amid coronavirus, the store will be thoroughly cleaned in between each stay, and guests will be provided with plenty of face coverings, wipes, and sanitizer.
This…is actually a really neat idea. Blockbuster coming back by getting into the hotel business would actually be really cool IMO https://t.co/dxkqN5hxm5

This September will mark 10 years since the company came to an end due to bankruptcy, and 20 years since the store in Bend opened, but this nostalgic gift is a way for the company to say thank you for all of the support it has received since the first store opened in Dallas, Texas in 1985. The chance to grab one of the openings is not until August 17th, so if you are a Deschutes resident be sure to check out the listing on Airbnb.
