Kamala Harris Attacked With Sexist Comments From Trump Administration

Kamala Harris has been the target for sexist and racist comments from the Trump Administration since the announcement as Biden’s Vice President pick.

Soon after the announcement of Kamala Harris joining the Democratic ticket as VP, the Trump administration has released and supported sexist comments on social media and has questioned her citizenship.

Lori Hendry Tweeted a sexist comment referring to Kamala Harris on Wednesday, August 12. Before the Tweet was deleted, many noticed Donald Trump’s son, Eric, had liked the post further supporting the sexist rhetoric used on the Democratic VP candidate. No apology from either Hendry or Trump has been issued.

This is not the first sexist and ad hominem comment endorsed by the president’s top officials. Released via Twitter, the president’s legal advisor, Jenna Ellis, compared Harris’ voice to Marge of The Simpsons. Journalist, Annie Karni called out Hendry’s tweet as a personal attack on Harris instead of focusing her opinions on Harris’s political ideology. Before Ellis’ ad hominem critique on Harris’ voice, she released a sexist tweet soon after the announcement of Harris joining Biden on the democratic ticket.

Harris has also been questioned based on her birthplace, similar to how Donald Trump accused Barack Obama during his presidential term. Harris was born in Oakland, California to immigrant parents from Jamaica and India. The 14th amendment reads, “all persons born…in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens.” Harris, therefore, is eligible to run for elected office.
