NYCC is going virtual in October.ReedPop announced today that New York Comic Con will have a virtual event this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The New York Comic Con website states, “New York Comic Con 2020’s physical event at the Javits Center will not be able to run as intended… Instead, we look to the future: we’re excited to join forces with our sister event, MCM Comic Con in London, to bring you New York Comic Con’s Metaverse, our new online portal dedicated to delivering pop culture experiences, right into your homes NYCC weekend, October 8-11. We are partnering with YouTube to bring to life four days of incredible content from the biggest studios, publishers, and creators in the business.”

NYCC Metaverse consists of a virtual world full of all fandoms from October 8-11. Fans get the joy of celebrating their favorite fandoms, celebrities, and creators, as well as discover new releases, get exclusive merchandise, and more.

If October is too far away for some people, NYCC’s sister shows Emerald City Comic Con, Florida Supercon, Keystone Comic-Con, and MCM Comic Con plan to host ReedPop’s first Metaverse virtual experience on August 13-16.

New York Comic Con is not the first big event to change virtually due to COVID-19. On April 17, San Diego Comic-Con announced its virtual event, Comic-Con 2020 At Home, for the first time in 50 years. The next physical event is planned on July 22-25, 2021.

New York Comic Con’s Metaverse is sure to be the perfect way to bring the fun of NYCC to fans and creators at home.
