If you miss Abbi Jacobson in Broad City you won’t want to miss this new Amazon series.
Alongside Will Graham, producer of Mozart in the Jungle, the classic 1992 movie A League of Their Own will be re-imagined as an hour-long series. The news came a few months after the pilot was wrapped up; this idea developed in March of 2018 and the wait is finally coming to a stop.

1992’s A League of Their Own is an American classic that follows a group of women drafted into a baseball league, but things take a turn when they are to be managed by an alcoholic.

Fans of the original film are thrilled about the news.

The series will have the nostalgic charm of Penny Marshal’s 30-year-old classic while emphasizing deeper on the women’s journey through sexuality and race, finding their directions in and outside of the baseball league.

Jacobson teases a first look at the action you will be seeing on her Instagram. Being trained by a former All-American Girls Professional baseball league shows the dedication they are putting into the series.

This Amazon series will feature a broad variety of stars you love, like D’arcy Carden (The Good Place), Gbemisola Ikumelo (Sex Education), and Melanie Field (Heathers).

These talented, inspirational, and funny actresses definitely represent the feminist spirit and comedy in the original movie. A League of Their Own is proving to be the diverse, feminist, funny, and inspirational gift we all need.
