Listen to BENEE’s New Single, ‘Snail’
On August 10, the New Zealand singer-songwriter BENEE released her newest song, “Snail.”
In February of 2020, BENEE’s track “Supalonely” left an iconic mark on the music industry. The song has accumulated nearly 400 million streams on Spotify and 123 million views on YouTube. “Snail” is the ultimate quarantine song because it addresses themes of isolation, time passing by, and what it would hypothetically be like to be a snail.

“Snail” has an energetic electric beat, which is ironic due to the song’s name, but it keeps the listener on their toes. The background music in “Snail” is reminiscent of a 1990s video game. “Snail” also has an official animated music video, created by Goodbye Robot, a professional motion graphics studio. “Snail” is unlike any other of BENEE’s songs and has surprised her fans with its originality. While it tackles the complex emotions of the pandemic in a nontraditional form, it also assures its listeners that there is a light at the end of the long tunnel.

Accompanied by an optimistic tune, BENEE sings, “the moon will light up my path / everything’s passing by,” and she continues, “like a snail, you’re a guy / Kinda mad I can’t fly / When it’s day, hide away / But come out when it rains, when it rains.” Click down below to view the music video for “Snail.”
In July, BENEE also released another track, “Night Garden,” in collaboration with Kenny Beats and Bakar. We cannot wait to hear more of BENEE’s music. In the meantime, check out more of BENEE’s singles, like “Glitter” and “Soaked.”
