The Venice Film Festival has recently announced the short film, The Human Voice, is to be premiered at the 2020 festival in September.

Scottish actress, Tilda Swinton, and Spanish filmmaker, Pedro Almodovar, are working together to create a 30-minute short film that will premier in September 2020.

News of The Human Voice was shared after the festival lineup was announced on the official website, Venice Biennale.

The dynamic duo, Almodovar and Swinton, started production for their short film The Human Voice just last month. The swiftness of completing a project in 3 months (which you know already will be a masterpiece) comes as no surprise considering the incredible talent of both stars.

The festival explained that the 30-minute short film will be, “a very free adaptation of the original stage play by Jean Cocteau, with which Pedro Almodóvar has been dreaming of for decades. It tells the story of a desperate woman (Swinton), who waits for the phone call of the lover who has just abandoned her. It marks Pedro Almodóvar’s first time shooting in English.”

“I am very excited about coming back to Venice in such a special year, with COVID 19 as an involuntary guest,” Almodóvar said about his upcoming worldwide debut. “Everything will be different, and I am looking forward to discovering it in person.”

This is the first project Swinton and Almodovar work on together and fans are happy for the gem that is just a few months away.

The Venice Film festival will be held from September 2 through September 12. Make sure you don’t miss the release of this film, as it’s safe to predict it will be one of the best at the festival.
