Pietra Is Helping Black Entrepreneurs Launch Their Own Business

Pietra

Pietra is taking a fundamental and necessary step by providing entrepreneurs of color with access to starting their own business.

In the past year, the world has taken a long-due step in amplifying Black voices in the community. The fashion community is one of the many that have shown major improvements – but this is just the beginning.

Nonetheless, the support has been extremely refreshing to see. While many celebrities and large corporations have pledged to donate to the #BlackLivesMatter movement, it is crucial to also let Black businesses become big names as well. This is exactly what Pietra has committed to doing.

According to WhoWhatWear, “Globally, 80% of all venture capital firms don’t have a single Black investor, and just 1% of venture-funded startup founders are Black. This means it’s harder for Black entrepreneurs to secure private funding for their businesses”. And even if Black entrepreneurs turn to banks, their approval rate for getting a loan is 46.6%, when for a white entrepreneur it is a comparable 75.3% rate.

Pietra announced a year-long fellowship to support 20 Black entrepreneurs. This will provide free access to the site’s membership, tools, suppliers, and product samples.

“…the program won’t just be the launch of their own shop within the Pietra e-commerce ecosystem, but it will also include meetings with mentors who will walk them through different aspects of the industry to give the entrepreneurs advice.” The founder of Pietra stated.

Pietra’s movement is a great step forward to shining the spotlight on well-deserving and talented Black creators.

This is a revolutionary step for Pietra and for Black entrepreneurs trying to find access to start their own businesses. You can check out Pietra’s Instagram and join the support team of all the incredible creators part of this revolutionary movement.
