In a cryptic tweet on August 13th, Drake announced that he would release a new single entitled “Laugh Now Cry Later” at midnight the following day.

Drake’s latest hit featuring Lil Durk is the embodiment of 2020. In the music video for this timely song, the artist further surprises his fans by playing basketball with Brooklyn Nets player Kevin Durant and tossing a football with Odell Beckham Jr. Lil Durk also surprised fans by riding around on a neon jetski in the music video.

The artist’s last album Scorpion was released in 2018, so it’s safe to say that his fans have been anxiously awaiting new music. While dozens of other artists, including Machine Gun Kelly, Billie Eilish, and Rihanna are also dropping new music during quarantine, Drake also released an album back in May titled, Dark Lane Demo Tapes. The album featured collaborations with Future, Giveon, and infamous Chris Brown. He also recently released the single “Toosie Slide” that has been adopted by Tik Tok dancers all over the world.

Although the album did well commercially, Drake’s latest single has gotten a good deal of attention due to the high profile athletes featured in the music video, also reaching over 23 million views in just a few days. This new single is also going to be part of yet another album (Drake’s 6th studio album) entitled Certified Lover Boy to be released later this summer.
