Taylor Swift released her new surprise album, folklore, this past July.

Fans were quick to guess the different easter eggs, however, Swift just made it easier for all of us by revealing the secrets from the “cardigan” music video.

In a new YouTube video, uploaded today on Swift’s official channel, many fan theories about the music video were confirmed. The video is titled, “Taylor Swift – The Making of cardigan | Vevo Footnotes.” It shares many fun facts regarding the production of the album, the song itself, and even the music video.

The entire album was written, recorded, and released during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. This made it that much harder to release an album, given the circumstances. In the video, Swift reveals how she was able to do everything in such a COVID- safe manner. This included virtually collaborating with another artist, Aaron Dessner, from the band, The National, one of Swift’s favorite bands. The music video also had to be recorded, keeping social distancing in mind. This meant Swift did her own hair and makeup while on set. She also wore her own nightgown to cut down on contact between people. They used a crane to shoot the video, so the camera-person didn’t have to get too close to Swift.

This album has been the most secret of all of Swift’s, making it essential that nobody found out about it before she wanted. Instead of playing the music on speakers while shooting the video, Taylor wore an earpiece to avoid anybody accidentally overhearing the song while filming.

This video is a must-watch for any swiftie, or anyone wanting to know more about the behind the scenes process of creating an album during a pandemic and a big thanks to Swift for releasing such a masterpiece during these hard times.
