Rachel Weisz Stars in New ‘Dead Ringers’ Series

Rachel Weisz is set to star in and produce the new TV adaptation of Dead Ringers.

Dead Ringers first made its appearance as a horror and psychological thriller movie in the 1980s. Amazon has picked up the script for a television adaptation of the film. It has just been announced that Weisz will not only star in the series but will be producing the show as well. Amazon has given the show a ‘straight – to – series order,’ meaning the production will consist of an entire series.

Weisz is known for her previous work in The Favourite, which earned her an Academy Award nomination, as well as the upcoming Marvel movie, Black Widow. This new project will be her first major role in a television series. She will be taking on the challenge of two roles: the Mantle twins. In the original film, the twins were two males, played by Jeremy Irons. In the show, the twins will be girls in order to bring up issues such as women’s health and feminism. The movie is known for its more freaky tone and thrilling aspects, and while the show is said to take on similar aspects, it will also bring to light more controversial topics.

Weisz drafted the idea for this show herself, as she is a huge fan of the original movie. Alice Birch will be writing the series, as well as serve as an executive producer. The studio for the adaptation will be Annapurna.

This series will no doubt be one to watch and it is obvious Weisz is putting her heart and soul into making it. We can’t wait to watch.
