Jennifer Hudson closes the Democratic National Convention with a powerful cover of “A Change Is Gonna Come.”

Jennifer Hudson surprised viewers with her performance at the 2020 Democratic National Convention. The singer sang Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come,” backed by two pianists and a saxophonist after Kamala Harris’s speech. People on social media found her choice of song fitting for the convention and Black Lives Matter movement. Praises were made for her rendition of the song as it is a powerful fitting song for the night’s events. Hudson took advantage of building acoustic by stepping away from the mic on the last verse. The performance was stunning to say the least.

This isn’t the first time Hudson made a performance for the Democratic National Convention. Back in 2008, she sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” for our former President Barack Obama.

The song is an iconic anthem used in 1964 to fight against racism. President Obama cited lyrics from that song in his victory speech when he won the elections. At his inauguration, Bonjovi and LaVette made their cover of “A Change Is Gonna Come.”

Hudson has also made it very clear her support towards candidate Joe Biden. In June she sang along with Barbra Streisand, John Legend and Andra Day for a virtual fundraiser for him.

Your vote is needed with this upcoming election. Allow her performance of such a beautiful song remind you why your vote is important.
