Nashville Mural Highlights Dolly Parton’s Black Lives Matter Quote
Tourists and Nashville natives rush to see the new Dolly Parton mural focusing on her stance on Black Lives Matter.
Mural artist, Kim Radford, decided to paint Dolly Parton on the side of a local music club in East Nashville. After Billboard released an article about Parton’s position on Black Lives Matter, Radford decided to incorporate a quote into her art piece.
At the last minute, Radford added a quote from Parton saying that “Of course Black lives matter. Do we think our little white (expletive) are the only ones that matter?”
“I looked at her quote in particular and it was so sassy and a sensitive comment about something’s that got a lot of friction in the air right now,” Radford explained. “And she just treated it just like Dolly does: lovingly. And it was just perfect.”
As not only a Vocalist but an Activist, I love when I see true Allyship over performative wokeness.

Due to the curse word included within the quote, Radford substituted some of the letters with butterflies. The mural includes Parton’s infamous volume of hair, along with a background of butterflies and wildflowers.
Shortly after the mural was completed, pictures of the artwork started to spread like wildfire. Social media blew up with Radford’s beautiful work.

“I’ve had fans reach out from as far as Dubai,” said Radford. “A lot of women. And I have to say, 95% super positive.”
