Kate Mckinnon to Star in and Executive Produce NBC ‘Joe Exotic’
Netflix’s The Tiger King reared its stripes back in March, and Kate McKinnon is bringing its claws back out.
Over its first ten days of airing, the Tiger King drama series on Netflix had 34.3 million pairs of eyeballs answering yes to the famous “Are you still watching?” pop-up screen. Now, when everyone least expected, the murder mystery circus of big cats and jaw-dropping real-life scenarios are back with a little something different.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Saturday Night Live‘s Kate McKinnon will be starring in and executive producing the Joe Exotic (working title) drama to be aired on NBCUniversal USA Network and streamer Peacock.
The limited series is based on the Wondery podcast of the same name, on true events circling Carole Baskin (McKinnon), a big-cat rights activist and CEO of Big Cat Rescue, who discovers infamous Joe “Exotic” Schreibvogel breeding big cats for profit. She since deems him her arch-rival, determined to bring down his big cat kingdom. The Tiger King will be played by none other than Nicolas Cage. This is sure to be a walk on the wild side (again).
It can only be assumed that these past words from the Tiger King himself were enough to send Carol into a frenzy: “Does it feel good to stand on my stage with 500-pound tigers and everybody envy you? Absolutely.” Etan Frankel who recently wrapped up co-show running the second season of Facebook’s Sorry for Your Loss, will write the limited series via his deal with UCP which is a division of Universal Studio Group.
We can’t flocking wait for this series! 🐯 https://t.co/uQfhPdpxz2
