Watch Tame Impala Crush Their ‘Tiny Desk (Home) Concert’ Performance
Tame Impala performs fan favorites from home in NPR’s new Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series.
NPR has been running their Tiny Desk Concert series since 2008, with hundreds of famous musicians performing their best hits stripped-down in the corner of a room in the NPR office. Tiny Desk Concert has hosted a range of artists from big names like Adele, Taylor Swift, and Erykah Badu to smaller acts like BANKS, Toro y Moi, and Nao.
Things are a bit different now, with NPR now having musicians perform from the comfort of their own homes amidst the current pandemic in their revamped Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series.
Australian act Tame Impala were the lastest to give a Tiny Desk (Home) Concert performance, and they did not disappoint. They performed “Breathe Deeper” and “Is It True,” two hits from their latest album The Slow Rush, along with their stand-alone single, “Patience,” which was released early last year.
Many don’t know that Tame Impala is actually solo artist Kevin Parker on studio versions but a group, also including musicians Jay Watson and Dom Simper, during live performances. Parker, who writes, produces and sings all of Tame Impala’s records, is known for his psychedelic rock sound and started gaining more popularity after the success of his 2015 album, Currents.

Tame Impala is adjusting to life as musicians during the COVID-19 outbreak after having to cancel their summer tour following the release of the highly anticipated album, The Slow Rush, back in February, Parker’s first project in five years, and performing concerts from home, like Parker’s solo The Late Show with Stephen Colbert performance. Even though it’s not their usual stage productions, fans are still loving their home performances as they understand that this is the best they can get for now.

Even though we’re all adjusting to the new normal brought on by COVID-19, it’s nice to have some sense of normalcy and familiarity with home performances like these as we all long for the days where we can attend concerts in person again. Be sure to keep listening to Tame Impala’s latest album, The Slow Rush, available on all streaming platforms now.
