Actress and singer Keke Palmer hosted the 2020 MTV VMAs this past weekend and performed her new hit song, “Snack.”

Palmer is the first Black woman in history to host the VMAs by herself.

In her opening monologue for the epic awards show, Palmer honored the late actor Chadwick Boseman. She showed her appreciation and admiration for former Black Panther and 42 star, who tragically passed away from colon cancer on Friday.

In talking about Boseman, Palmer called him “an actor whose talent and passion is a true inspiration to all the fans he touched, and everyone he encountered.” She continued to say, “We dedicate tonight’s show to a man whose spirit touched so many. He’s a true hero, not just on screen, but everything he did. His impact lives forever.”

Palmer not only honored Boseman’s legacy but also applauded the female musicians celebrated at the awards show in an Instagram post (as an ad for See Her 2020).

On top of hosting the awards show on Saturday night, Palmer also performed in it and sang her new single “Snack.”

Dressed in bright neon 80’s workout style clothes, she owned the stage and showed her fans what it means to be confident in yourself. The Joyful Noise and True Jackson VP star’s latest single is part of an R&B/soul album that was just released called Virgo Tendencies Pt. 1.

Palmer did such an incredible job as the show’s host and absolutely left viewers in awe with her performance. Definitely the perfect choice for this year’s VMAs.
