Lauren Alaina Releases New EP, ‘Getting Over Him’
25-year-old “Getting Good” singer releases her new single, “Getting Over Him.”
Alaina has a lot of “getting” in her latest releases, but this is one for the books. Her empowering vocals describe her latest break-up and how she overcame the heartache.

“Honestly, I hate to say it, it’s kinda a song about a rebound,” Alaina said, adding a laugh. “I don’t know any nicer way to say it. I’m so sorry, Mom.”
Alaina’s relationship with John Crist ended in 2019 soon before she went on Dancing with the Stars.
“I went through a pretty public breakup last year, and I went through the breakup right before I went on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and I never addressed it,” said Alaina.
Alaina dealt with this break-up by remaining silent and giving herself time to heal. For her, this was by writing the lyrics to her new song.
“This EP is kind of my response, because everyone did have a lot of questions and I never really answered it. … Until I had my mind wrapped around what’s happening, it (was) OK to take a beat and just take some time for myself. And the way I do that is I write songs.”
Because of her role on Dancing With the Stars, Alaina found herself only having time to rehearse. Because of this, she resulted in bottling up all the feelings from the fresh break. She spilled all her emotions out on this new EP that will send listeners feeling connected to her story.

“As long as I can remember, music — outside of even my own — has helped me,” she said. “I don’t know why (at) 9 years old I decided that was what I needed to do, but that laid the foundation for, ‘OK, when I’m upset or I’m feeling things, this is what I do.’ I either listen to music or I write it.”
