New York Fashion Week is still happening and will be modified to fit COVID-19 guidelines and New York state social distancing rules.

Even with a global pandemic, fashion and creativity continue to prosper. The iconic New York Fashion Week, which will take place from September 13th to September 17th, is an opportunity for high-caliber fashion designers to show off their latest creations. However, we can expect new changes given the current social climate and New York State health and safety guidelines.

According to Eonline, there will be few live shows in which the maximum of 50 audience members can attend.  Indoor shows are being cut by 50%, meaning the majority of shows will be outdoors. Additionally, audience members will be required to wear masks and social distance.

In an article by WWDdesigners will be presenting their looks in “hybrid format” such as “live-streamed videos, digital lookbooks, and shopping events”. The primary site to view these runway looks is on the New York Fashion Week website or on another live-streaming platform called Runway360.

The event will be featuring shows from well-known designers such as Jason Wu, MaxHosa Africa, and Christian Siriano. However, many notable designers will not be participating in NYFW, such as Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, and more. In turn, designers are finding more creative ways to host their own shows, such as Michael Kors, who will be hosting his own live-streamed show said to be a “multi-layered digital experience”.

The fashion world persists in the face of a pandemic, striving to flourish creativity in times of isolation. Be sure to watch the live streams of these shows to get the ‘NYFW’ experience from the comfort of your home.
