Watch Your Favorite Stars Dance on Season 29 of ‘Dancing With the Stars’

ABC/Eric McCandless

The brand new season of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars has begun with new stars, pros, judges, and hosts.

The first episode of the season aired on Monday, September 14, and the first elimination round will begin next week.

The current pandemic was bound to cause new changes and challenges to the production of the show, as it has with many others. For starters, while the show is still being filmed and aired live, there is no live audience to watch the performances. Social distancing measures are being implemented, aside from the stars and their professional dance partners who have been under strict quarantine rules. There is also ample amounts of COVID testing being required for the cast to ensure everyone’s safety.

In addition to these new protocols, DTWS has brought in some new and familiar faces to the show. This Season, professional ballroom dancer and six-time DTWS champion, Derek Hough, has taken the seat of usual head judge Len Goodman, who is unable to travel from the U.K. due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Hough will be joining Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli at the newly designed, socially distant judges desk.

A new host is also on-screen this season. Supermodel and TV personality Tyra Banks took the stage last night as the show’s new host, and she’s hoping to build connections with the cast and the people watching at home.

We can’t forget about the incredible pros that we have this season. Fan favorites Keo Motsepe and Sharna Burgess have returned to the stage, alongside new pros Daniella Karagach and Britt Stewart. Britt Stewart is making history by being the first Black female pro dancer on DWTS.

And of course, the stars. Each celebrity gave it their all on stage last night for their first performances of the seasons and then received praise and critiques from the judges. Some of the stars in the ballroom this season are previous Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe, Disney star Skai Jackson, rapper Nelly, and Carol Baskin from Tiger King.

Be sure to tune into ABC weekly to watch this unique season of Dancing with the Stars unfold.
