Miley Cyrus Speaks Out on the Importance of Voting in a Recent Episode of ‘Fitzy & Wippa’
Miley Cyrus recently expressed her thoughts on the importance of voting in the upcoming election.
Cyrus recently voiced her thoughts on the November election in a UK comedy podcast, Fitzy & Wippa. When asked about her opinion on the importance of voting she quickly jumped in and responded, “I’m 27 and I know I’ve never experienced an election this important before, and I’m not sure I ever will again.”
The star went on to express the importance of young people casting a vote and encouraging their friends and family to do the same as well. She stated it’s important that the younger generation has the information to be informed about things such as mail-in voting and the state of our country when making their vote. The singer described it as “crucial” for us to get out there and make changes.
The interviewer went on to ask if the star thinks that change will happen and if there are enough people like Cyrus that are proud enough to raise their voice and make a change. She responded, “I think young people have been really stepping up to the plate, and taking charge, and getting mobilized, working tirelessly, and advocating, so I think it’s a desperate time and that’s when people step up.” The star shared she doesn’t believe in the saying “don’t worry, be happy,” she thinks worrying is healthy, and things are not going to be ok by leaving them the way they are, you have to work to make a change.
Cyrus is no stranger to speaking out on social justice issues. She took to Instagram in June to share a video of her discussion on the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on marginalized communities.
The singer has been trying to inspire change in her generation since 2008, where she recently reshared her song “Wake Up America,” a song calling attention to how we treat our planet.
We’re happy the popstar has been trying to inspire change and address these issues on her platform. Cyrus continues to be an advocate for important topics, and we hope she continues to speak out.
