The Batman was put on hold for the first time back in March when the pandemic hit and didn’t pick back up until the end of August. Warner Bros. released a statement Thursday revealing the production status of the film.
“Following a hiatus for COVID-19 quarantine precautions, filming has now resumed on The Batman in the UK,” the rep-issued statement said.
In the trailer revealed at DC’s FanDome event, the film aims to give life to a new Batman villain—The Riddler. The Batman is being directed by Matt Reeves and stars Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and Peter Sarsgaard.
The official teaser has amassed 22 million views on YouTube thus far and has had relatively positive feedback from comic-book fans. Pre-pandemic, DC announced that Reeve’s Batman was eyeing a June 2021 release, but Warner Bros. has given a formal release date of October 1, 2021.
