The Brooklyn Municipal Building Will Be Renamed After RBG
After the passing of legendary Associate Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on September 18, the mayor of New York City, Bill De Blasio, has announced that he plans to rename the Brooklyn Municipal Building after the beloved social justice warrior.
Ginsburg passed away at the age of 87, just 46 days shy of the upcoming highly-anticipated presidential election. She passed away on the first day of the two-day Jewish New Year, known as Rosh Hashana. According to religion, a person who dies on Rosh Hashana is known as a tzaddik, which means “a person of great righteousness.” The American public has agreed with that statement, for Ginsburg was a true tzaddik (and so much more). Fans from all over the nation mourned her loss, with people gathering outside of the Supreme Court in Washington D.C. and the Brooklyn Municipal Building in New York to leave memorabilia and flowers in her honor.
Mayor De Blasio announced today on Twitter that he plans to honor the justice’s legacy in her hometown of Brooklyn, New York.
Icon. Trailblazer. Daughter of Brooklyn.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s memory will live on in our city. I’m proud to announce that we’re renaming the Brooklyn Municipal Building in her honor.
May her example inspire all of us to fight for justice in the months ahead. pic.twitter.com/hrSn5mLJpB

To continue to honor Ginsburg’s everlasting legacy, we encourage you to make sure you register to vote in the 2020 presidential election. Ginsburg’s last wish before she died was to not be replaced in the Supreme Court until the next president has been inaugurated. Today is national voter registration day, and there are many ways you can register to vote and have your say in who becomes president in 42 days.
It’s only 7:45pmET, still enough time for you to make sure you are #VoteReady on #NationalVoterRegistrationDay. This @Newsweek article lays out the simple ways to make sure you can have your voice heard in November. https://t.co/1huPjokaaY
