Breathtaking Mural at Disneyland Pays Tribute to Chadwick Boseman

Marvel

Disneyland pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman with a mural at its Downtown Disney shopping district.

On September 24, Disneyland unveiled the mural by Nikkolas Smith as an homage to the late Chadwick Boseman, and it is breathtaking.

As we all know, Boseman, unfortunately, passed of cancer on August 28. The hearts of many were crushed that day. However, we will never forget his resilience and compassion. Carrying himself with power, yet full of serenity, Boseman taught others to always strive for what they wanted.

Along with this, he always put the time to visit the children with cancer at the St. Jude campus. It was like this that Smith decided to portray “The King.”

This one is special. My King Chad tribute is now on a wall on display at Downtown Disney. 🐾 It is a full circle moment for me: my final two projects as a Disney Imagineer last summer were working on the Children’s Hospital project and the Avengers Campus. To millions of kids, T’Challa was a legend larger than life, and there was no one more worthy to fill those shoes than Chadwick Boseman. I’m so thankful to be able to honor Chadwick’s life and purpose in this way. I am grateful to the Disney family for being so supportive of my journey as an artist. @waltdisneyimagineering @disney @marvelstudios @disneyland 🐾✨ #LongLiveTheKing #KingChad #WakandaForever #Phambili #DowntownDisney #BlackPanther #ChadwickBoseman #RIPChadwick #WDI

The mural showcases a young boy giving the Wakanda Salute to the Marvel star. Depicted wearing a Black Panther mask, the boy looks up  at Boseman’s warm smile.

Smith is a concept artist, author, illustrator, and former Disney Imagineer native to Houston, Texas, residing in Los Angeles. He took to Instagram to share his experience on this honoring moment. “I am so thankful to be able to honor Chadwick’s life and purpose in this way,” he posted.

Smith could only describe his artwork as being “special.” Referring to Boseman as “My King Chad,” Smith acknowledges his impact on children and how he wanted to represent Boseman just as he was: a legend. With his wife and baby boy by his side, Smith’s tribute to Boseman was even more touching and heartwarming.

Celebrities and fans expressed their love for the mural on Twitter.

Mark Ruffalo asserted himself by saying, “It is perfectly him.”

All-around described as “perfect” and “beautiful,” the new Disney mural has captivated all who witness it.

Immortalized in Disneyland, we will forever know Boseman as our King. As Smith said in his post, “there was no one more worthy to fill those shoes.” Wakanda Forever.
