Selena Gomez Shares Her Kidney Transplant Scar

Selena Gomez admits she struggled with showing her kidney transplant scar at the beginning but now feels confident enough in who she is and what she went through to be proud of it.
In 2015, Gomez announced her diagnosis with lupus and ever since she has been candid about the mental health issues that have resulted from the disease. Lupus is a chronic disease and people who suffer from it have weaker immune systems. Usually, the body will fight off a virus with antibodies, but instead, the bodies of lupus survivors create autoantibodies that attack healthy tissue.

Back in 2017, Gomez needed a kidney transplant. Her best friend and actress, Francia Raisa, kindly gave her the vital organ so Gomez could undergo the transplant.
She posted a beautiful picture of her in a blue swimsuit revealing her scar. She now feels confident and proud of everything she went through. The bathing suit is courtesy of her friend Theresa Marie Mingus’s new swimwear line, La’Mariette.
Fans and fellow celebrity friends applauded her bravery and showed her their support in the comments section.
So many people look up to Gomez and she is teaching everyone a valuable lesson on how every body is beautiful.
