Pick up these simple ingredients for a soothing tea that lessens PMS symptoms.

German-American actress Zazie Beetz, known for her work in Deadpool 2, Joker, and Atlanta, recently shared her holistic tea blend that she conjures up for herself each month. In the Instagram post, she shares the key ingredients and the multiple benefits that she experiences from drinking what she calls her period tea blend.

In hopes of finding a more natural approach to alleviating her cramps, rather than taking pain killers, she created this blend.

Beetz expresses the importance of one of the ingredients on her blend, which is red raspberry leaf tea. This herb is commonly used to relieve cramps and help to tone the uterus. The actress shares how this tea is beneficial for women of all ages and has been known to be used to prepare the womb in pregnant women.

In her blend, Beetz also puts in fennel tea which is used to help soothe the stomach. Many women experience bloating and/or changes in digestive patterns during their periods, and ingredients such as fennel tea, ginger, cardamom pods are ones that Beetz recommends to help combat those symptoms.

Lastly, Beetz mixes some lemon balm tea into her blend to calm down the nervous system. Referring to it as what some call “nature’s Xanax,” Beetz explains how lemon balm is an ingredient that promotes a sense of calm while helping to diminish feelings of anxiety. Other calming herbs that Beetz recommends are chamomile, lavender, and passionflower.

She reminds her followers that she is not a medical professional and that sharing this recipe is only to offer her advice and personal experiences. If you are experiencing debilitating pain during your period, it is important to talk to your doctor and take any necessary measures which may include a mixture of pharmaceutical and holistic approaches.

Beetz recommends a gallon of this blend to start sipping on right before and throughout your period. You can find these teas at many health food stores such as Whole Foods. Raise your tea mugs to natural self-care from the inside out.
