NPR/YouTube

Jhené Aiko performed an angelic and soothing performance for NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) concert series that is everything we needed at the moment.

Aiko is a Los Angeles native R&B artist who has made her mark in the music industry. Her lyrics demonstrate her talent for songwriting as she explicitly showcases her struggles, joy, and sexuality while adding her vibe and style.

In this Tiny Desk concert, Aiko delighted her fans with an eight-song setlist that gave her fans a taste of her greatest hits. According to NPR, fans have “been begging for a Tiny Desk for a long time.”

It is safe to say it was worth the wait. The singer-songwriter started off the setlist with celestial singing bowls bleeding into “Lotus (Intro)” from her 2020 album Chilombo. Aiko then dived into “Stranger,” “Do Better Blues,” “To Love & Die,” and “Eternal Sunshine.”

The performance was intimate and comforting as Aiko stands front and center in a long beautiful aqua dress paired with gorgeous minimalist jewelry. With a natural makeup look and bare feet, the artist made us feel as though we were in the room with her.

Following the COVID-19 guidelines, a four-member ensemble wearing masks accompanied Aiko throughout the performance. The band consisted of a piano, bass, harp, and percussion that perfectly blended with Aiko’s angelic vocals.

Throughout the performance, the artist showcased her soft, soothing vocals and her therapeutic song aesthetic, which she also delved into her album Chilombo. Such a peaceful and serene account had fans expressing their love on Twitter.

Several fans also demonstrated their love for those singing bowls.

Aiko brought the performance to a full circle as she closed with a sound bath of singing bowls once again.

With dulcet vocals and beautiful lyrics, Aiko is the artist to follow, so be sure to follow her on Twitter and Instagram.
