After President Trump contracted COVID-19, many other officials and leaders around him have tested positive for the virus.

On the morning of October 5, Kayleigh McEnany posted a statement to her Twitter account declaring herself positive. She states that she has been tested regularly, only becoming positive after Thursday. McEnany claims to not have been aware of Hope Hick’s positive test and that she does not exhibit any symptoms, currently.

If you are not familiar with McEnany, she is the White House Press Secretary so she regularly interacts with journalists to update the press every day about current White House issues. You might be familiar with her clean up after the first presidential debate when Trump did not condemn the Proud Boys, a white supremacist hate group. She held a press conference the next morning in which she staunchly argued that President Trump had denounced white supremacy.

McEnany is only one of over a dozen important individuals who have tested positive for coronavirus in the last week, such as Melania Trump, Kellyanne Conway, and Chris Christie. Experts believe the spread of the virus originated from the Supreme Court nomination event in the Rose Garden for Amy Coney Barrett. Despite the distance between the speaking podium and the front row, the picture of the seating arrangement is going viral on the Internet for displaying exactly who has gotten sick since the event.

COVID-19 is nowhere close to ending despite what the President may say, so please wear a mask, wash your hands, social distance, and remember to vote on or before November 3.
