Megan Thee Stallion Discusses Black Power, Black Lives Matter, Breonna Taylor, and More While on ‘SNL’

During her SNL debut, rapper Megan Thee Stallion had lots to say about Black Lives Matter, Breonna Taylor, and so much more.

On Saturday night, October 3, Megan Thee Stallion performed on the hit comedy show, SNL. Not only did the artist give a draw-dropping performance of her sit song Savage, but she also took this opportunity to make a statement about the recent development in the Breonna Taylor case.

As Megan started her performance, she and her background dancers stood in front of a projection screen which first displayed the words “protect black women.” Halfway through her performance gunshot sounds were heard, prompting a recording of well-known Black rights activist, Malcolm X. The recording was of Malcolm X’s famous “Who taught you to hate yourself?” speech from 1962.

During her performance, Megan also took the time to criticize Daniel Cameron, who justified the actions of the cops who killed Breonna Taylor back in March. Megan played an audio clip of an activist named, Tamika Mallory, who chastised Cameron for his decision, saying that he is no different from those in the past who had “sold our people into slavery.”

Then before she finished her performance, Megan gave a speech herself, addressing and demanding our nation’s need to protect Black individuals.
