Skai Jackson Earns the Highest Score of the Season on DWTS for Her Tribute Dance to Cameron Boyce

Skai Jackson performed a beautiful foxtrot in honor of her friend and co-star, Cameron Boyce.

Week four centered around tribute performances. Each star dedicated their performance to someone who made an impact on their life. Jackson picked Boyce, her Disney Channel Jessie co-star, who passed away last year from epilepsy.
Jackson told her dance partner, Alan Bersten, why Boyce was so important to her. She said, “He was in my life for half of my life, which is crazy.” She explains how they met while filming Jessie and talks about the bond they created. “And he was kind of like a big brother figure to me, you know? And he always looked out for me through everything. He really molded me into the person that I am now.”

“Of course, I miss him every day, but I have him on my phone case so I get to see him,” She continued after showing her partner her phone case. “But I know that he would be really proud of me, I know that like he loved Dancing with the Stars and he loved like dancing, so that’s why I’m really excited like to just do this dance because it is for him.”
Jackson then stated, “I’m just really glad that he’s here to watch over us and I just want to show him that this dance is for him.”

The dance itself was incredible from start to finish and truly marked Jackson’s name on the leaderboard with the first ten of the season from a teary-eyed Carrie Ann Inaba. Moreover, the judges were extremely impressed with the technique she displayed as it was mostly done in hold—something that most couples of the evening shied away from in the ballroom dances.

Dancing in hold, also known as “in frame,” is one of the hardest things to do because the coordination requires both couples to be perfectly in sync, something even professional dancers struggle with. On top of this, Foxtrot is the most difficult ballroom dance due to its peculiar timing and intricate dance patterns.
if you see this pls check out the cameron boyce foundation which was created to continue cam’s legacy by helping the causes he believed in such as the global water crisis, ending gun violence & finding a cure for epilepsy. donate and/or spread the word 🖤https://t.co/sxqpfsoGuv

For viewers, this night marked a turning point in the competition because the scores are becoming relatively close between each competitor. In the coming weeks, you can expect to watch the exceptional stand out while others who can’t keep up will be eliminated from the show.
With Jackson at the top of the leaderboard, she’s definitely one to keep an eye on for the final three. Don’t forget to watch Dancing with the Stars on ABC, every Monday at 8 PM E / 7 PM C.
