Doja Cat Gives a Stunning Broadway Inspired Performance at the Billboard Music Awards
Doja Cat mixed three of her top hits into a jazzy medley that Broadway singers would be proud of.
The Billboard Music Awards were different this year, for obvious reasons. One of the most notable differences of the show was that there was no live audience; Kelly Clarkson constantly repeated that fact. Some celebrities did well, pretending like the crowd was still there. However, Doja Cat used the opening of her set to address the audience personally in a monologue that was fit for a Chicago stage.

From her flashy sequin dress to her theater character shoes, to her red wig, she pulled off the character of a 1920’s jazz singer with style and grace only to surprise the audience with a clever remix of her fans’ favorite songs. She kicked off her set with “Juicy,” dancing in front of a neon sign, reminiscent of the Art Deco movement. Doja Cat followed her viral TikTok hit, “Say So,” and ended with “Like That.” She was joined by four other dancers that pulled off saucy burlesque-like performances on chairs.
