Kane Brown, Swae Lee, and Khalid Perform ‘Be Like That’ at This Year’s Billboard Music Awards

Three very different musical powerhouses took the stage together at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards.

Being Kane Brown’s first collaboration since COVID-19 began, he took the opportunity and turned his hit country song, “Be Like That,” into a new musical creation. He sang alongside hip hop sensation Swae Lee and R&B King Khalid.

Brown took the stage dressed in a floral shirt with a black hat reading the word “Miracle.” The collaboration of this country song gave it beachy vibes, which perfectly matched Brown’s outfit for the award ceremony. As the song continued, his partners, Lee and Khalid, joined in, and they all sang together on the Dolby Theater stage.

After this performance, Lee had a conversation backstage with an interviewer. The interviewer started off the conversation by saying, “That performance tonight with Kane Brown and Khalid proved that you still know what to do even though we’ve been locked away for a while. You can get out and turn up. How did this collaboration even come about?”

Lee responds, “This collaboration is so crazy as our three worlds collide. We all do such different styles of music. Me in the hip hop world, Khalid in R&B, and Kane doing his country thing. You know we all came together, so crazy, it was a culture clash. They sent me the song when I was in L.A. and I heard the song and I was like, ok, I see what they are doing there. So I laid my part, laid my feeling, and put my emotion on there. It’s top of the chart just doing numbers. It’s such a great song.”

The conversation ended with the interviewer complimenting Lee on his incredible voice, and Lee then giving a shoutout to his mother.
