BTS Universe Announces Cast for New Drama Series, ‘Youth’

Big Hit Entertainment

The cast for BTS’s Youth has recently been announced.

The global Korean boyband, BTS, has announced the cast for their up and coming drama series, Youth, set to air in 2021. The premise of the series is to follow the lives of the seven boys based on the members of the band: Kim Namjoon (RM), Kim Seokjin (Jin), Jun Hoseok (J-Hope), Min Yoongi (Suga), Kim Taehyung (V), Park Jimin (Jimin) and Jeon Jeongguk (Jungkook).

According to an article by Teen Vogue, “Youth will tell the stories of seven young men navigating the transition to adulthood. The BU [BTS Universe] exists on an interesting storytelling plane, because it doesn’t tell the story of the music group BTS, nor does it tell any ‘real-life’ stories of the actual people that comprise the group. It’s entirely imaginary, and the characters just happen to have the same names as the BTS members.” The drama will include  “multiple timelines, flashbacks, and fantastical time-turning.”

The casting for the drama has been announced, and fans are going wild due to the perfect casting.

Jeon Jinseo, at the age of just 14, will be playing Jungkook. Jinseo has starred in other dramas such as The Heirs, Graceful Family, and Legend of the Blue Sea.

Jiho has starred in other dramas such as Nobody Knows. Seo Yungjoo will be playing the role of RM, who is “learning the harsh realities of what life can throw at you.” Yungjoo has also been in  Nobody Knows (also working with Ahn Jiho), Solomon’s Perjury, and Beautiful World. Kim Yoonwoo will be making his exiting debut playing the character Jimin, “hiding an unspeakable secret behind his bright smile.” Lastly, Jung Woojin will be playing the role of V, who lives with an alcoholic father and wishes that he can find his mother, who ran away because of his abusive stepfather.
