Coming soon; a new Netflix film filled with A-list actors and LGBTQ+ representation, and music.

Netflix has just released an official teaser trailer for a star-studded musical. The two-minute video gives us a glance at the film’s storyline, characters, and musical numbers.

The Prom is a fairly new Broadway musical by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, which premiered in 2016. The musical became popular among critics and audience members, and it was nominated for 7 Tony Awards.

In 2019, the musical was made into a young adult novel, in which the author Saundra Mitchell worked with the creators of the Broadway show. This year, Netflix will be releasing its film adaptation.

The premise of The Prom follows four different stage performers who are having some bumps in the road when it comes to their careers and they are looking for an opportunity to revive their images. Meanwhile, Indiana high schooler Emma Nolan has been banned by the PTA to attend her own prom with her girlfriend Alyssa. The stage stars Dee Dee and Barry decide to help out the small-town student and they view it as an opportunity to boost their careers.

The new Netflix musical comedy is directed by Ryan Murphy and adapted by Chad Beguelin and Bob Martin. Its cast will include stars such as Mary Streep, James Corden, Kerry Washington, Nicole Kidman, Keegan-Micheal Key, Jo Ellen Pellman, Ariana DeBose, and Andrew Rannells.

Fans are loving the cast and can not wait for this adaptation of the musical.

The Prom will be available to stream on Netflix on December 11 of this year and is sure to be a great watch for the whole family.
