Tim Burton is producing the new live-action TV series of The Addams Family.

The classical, mysterious, and spooky household is coming back with a brand new live-action adaption.

According to Deadline, Tim Burton is negotiating to be the executive producer and director of all the franchise’s upcoming rebooted episodes. Working alongside Burton are Smallville developers and producers, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

Burton working on The Addams Family is a great fit because he is known for his dark comedic themes. He developed and produced the animated series Beetlejuice from 1989-91. Some of his other notable works are Corpse Bride, Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and Dark Shadows.

Some of Gough and Millar’s works include Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 and Shanghai Noon.

The Addams Family was created in 1938 by Charles Addams, an American cartoonist. The fictional family has had two live-action adaptations and an animated movie that will have a sequel released in 2021. The most famous live-adaption is the 90’s film starring Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, and Christopher Lloyd.

The new series adaption development is going to be financed by MGM TV, although there are multiple buyers bidding for the show, including Netflix. The release hasn’t been confirmed.

The Addams Family reboot will become Burton’s first live-action TV project. Let’s see what Burton has planned for The Addams Family.
