Christian Serratos is the leading artist of the upcoming Selena: The Series.

It’s been 25 years since the 23-year-old sensation, Selena, died. Known as the Queen of Tejano music, the singer released numerous hits such as “Como La Flor,” “Amor Prohibido,” and “Dreaming of You.” The top chart celebrity was killed in 1995 by her fan club’s former president, Yolanda Saldivar.

Netflix released the official trailer of the upcoming series on Monday, October 26. The trailer shows Part One of the series and premieres on December 4. Part Two will be released at a later date.

Christian Serratos is known for her role as Rosita Espinosa in The Walking Dead, and is now playing the role of Selena Quintanilla. The series also stars Gabriel Chavarria (A.B. Quintanilla), Ricardo Chavira (Abraham Quintanilla), Noemí Gonzalez (Suzette Quintanilla), Seidy López (Marcella Quintanilla), and Julio Macias (Pete Astudillo).

Actress Seidy López played Selena’s cousin in the movie; she is now playing Selena’s mother in the series.

Selena: The Series is a two-part biography of the Queen of Tejano Music. The series will show the singer’s life from her childhood to her career as a successful Latina artist.

This isn’t the first time there is a biography of Selena on the big screen. In 1997, Jennifer Lopez portrayed her in the movie with the same name: Selena. While the film focuses more on Selena’s career life, the series is focused on her childhood and teenage years.

Though the singer passed away too soon, her legacy will still live on. The series will be premiere on Netflix on December 4.
