TWICE Hits the Spotlight With Their New Release ‘I Can’t Stop Me’ and New Album ‘Eyes Wide Open’

Republic Records

K-pop girl group Twice has made a comeback with “I Can’t Stop Me.”

After teasing fans for days, on October 26, the nine-member girl group released their album Eyes Wide Open, in addition to the music video for “I Can’t Stop Me.” The album contains 13 tracks, including “Behind The Mask,” co-written by pop artist, Dua Lipa.

Twice’s “I Can’t Stop Me” is an upbeat disco 80s synthwave song that talks about an internal struggle not to do something that deep inside they know would harm them. The pre-chorus on the song went along the lines of, “In my heart, I already know, Sooner or later I’ll step over the line, I’m warning myself, you shouldn’t be doing this every minute, every second, my heart goes ahead of me. Out of control.”

The group is known to be one of the top girl groups in Korea, as their music video is currently trending and reached 42 million views in less than two days on Youtube. Also, the track had become their first song to enter Spotify’s Top 50 Chart.

Shortly after the release, the girls shared a cheering guide for their fandom, Onces. The guide shows fans how to cheer for them during their live performances.

The lead track is composed by American songwriters A Wright and married couple Melanie Joy Fontana and Michel Lindgren Schulz. They are known to write for other top artists such as BTS, Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, and The Chainsmokers. The lyrics were written by Shim Eun Ji and Park Jin Young. The choreography was made by Kiel Tutin, Lee Yi Jung, and Jonte Moaning, who also made the choreography for Beyonce’s hit “Single Ladies.”

In celebrating the album’s release, Twice held a virtual listening party on Monday, October 26, for their fans to chat and stream with them.
