Dakota Johnson is teaming up with Riley Keough to star in and executive produce a limited series based on Bexy Cameron’s upcoming memoir Cult Following.

Johnson and Keough are executive producing the series through their production companies, TeaTime Pictures and Felix Culpa. Platform One Media is developing the project.

The limited series will follow two women who embark on a road trip to investigate contemporary cults existing today. Johnson will portray Cameron in the series, while Keough will appear as her close friend.

This project is the first time that longtime friends Johnson and Keough are appearing together on-screen. In a statement provided to Deadline, Platform One Media Chairman and CEO Katie O’Connell Marsh spoke of her excitement regarding the series.

“We were so happy that TeaTime introduced us to Bexy’s incredible story,” Marsh said. “It’s rare to find writing so pure and captivating and this project is an incredible opportunity to bring a truly unique journey to life with two of the most talented actors working today and the fact that Dakota and Riley have been best friends since they were 15 is an incredibly exciting chemistry to bring to screen.”

In a statement given by both Johnson and Donnelly at TeaTime Pictures, the duo shared their “dream” of working with Keough’s production company, Felix Culpa.

“It has been a dream of ours since we launched TeaTime to collaborate with Riley and Gina at Felix Culpa,” Johnson and Donnelly said. “We are beyond thrilled to join forces and friendship to bring Bexy’s remarkable story to the screen. Alongside Platform One, we look forward to adding the final top-notch collaborators to the team.”

“It’s a dream come true, to be working with Dakota, Riley, Ro, Gina and Platform One,” Cameron said about the deal. “It’s overwhelming to think that such a stellar group of phenomenal women in the industry will be bringing my story to life.”

Cameron’s memoir will be available for purchase in hardback, audio and digital platforms on July 8, 2021. To follow production news, follow TeaTime Pictures on Instagram.
