The United States Postal Service Fails to Deliver Mail-in Ballots by the Deadline
The United States Postal Service was not able to increase its daily review process of mail-in ballots, due to preexisting duties on Election Day.
On early Tuesday, the U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan ordered the United States Postal Service to sort mail-in ballots throughout all of their facilities.

Sullivan ordered this sweep of votes between 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm on Election Day. The USPS released a statement saying that there were other previously promised priorities that were needed to speed up the counting process.
“Given the time constraints set by this Court’s order and the fact that Postal Inspectors operate on a nationwide basis, Defendants were unable to accelerate the daily review process to run from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. without significantly delaying preexisting activities on the day of the election.”
The USPS declared that around 300,000 ballots did not receive a security scan. They continued in their statement to explain that it would be physically impossible, with the small size of each facility, to search the entire location for ballots in such a small time.

“There are only one or two Inspectors in any one facility, and thus they do not have the ability to personally scour the entire facility. Indeed, doing so would be impractical (given the size of that facility) and would take them away from their other pressing Election Mail-related responsibilities, as detailed above.”
With the extension of ballot counting, states are requiring strict guidelines for a ballot to be qualified as a vote. Due to the tight race between Joe Biden and President Donald Trump, America hopes that each and every vote will be counted if applicable.
