Harry Styles Makes History as the First Male to Cover Vogue Solo

Harry Styles is not only Vogue’s newest cover star, but he’s making history while doing it.

Styles has become Vogue’s first male cover star to appear on the magazine solo, and the singer wore a dress to commemorate the occasion.

For the issue, Styles’ sister Gemma revealed some childhood secrets about the star. Gemma, who grew up uninterested in all things fashion, mentioned that her brother was more likely to play dress-up as a child.

“My mum loved to dress us up,” She said. “I always hated it, and Harry was always quite into it.”

Styles’ confirmed the story for the magazine, stating that he became interested in fancy clothing at a young age.

“As a kid, I definitely liked fancy dress,” Styles said. “I remember it was crazy to me that I was wearing a pair of tights. And that was maybe where it all kicked off!”

Olivia Wilde, the director of Styles’ upcoming film Don’t Worry Darling, spoke to Vogue about how she admires the actor’s confidence.

“I hope that this brand of confidence as a male that Harry has — truly devoid of any traces of toxic masculinity — is indicative of his generation and therefore the future of the world,” Wilde said. “I think he is in many ways championing that, spearheading that. It’s pretty powerful and kind of extraordinary to see someone in his position redefining what it can mean to be a man with confidence.”
