Start the holiday season right with Netflix’s new original Christmas movie.

Netflix is bringing the holidays home to us with their new Christmas original Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey. This movie is one everyone should add to their watch lists this season. Writer and director David E. Talbert creates a seasonal musical sensation that is unlike any basic holiday movie.

This Christmas movies provides a very talented and diverse cast, including Ricky Martin (American Crime Story: Versace), Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show), Anika Noni Rose (The Princess and the Frog), Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Keegan-Michael Key (Key and Peele), Lisa Davina Phillip (The Royal Today), Justin Cornwell (Training Day), Miles Barrow (Scoop), Sharon Rose (Hamilton), Kieron L. Dyer, and Madalen Mills.

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey starts as any classic Christmas movie would, with the opening of a big storybook, whose pages come to life with animated images that jump off the page. The story is about the invention of Jeronicus Jangle which is a tale of how a talented tinkerer, played by Forest Whitaker, had his life’s work stolen from him. He then falls into ruin and eventually learns to believe again, thanks to the positivity of his granddaughter, Journey, who is played by Madalen Mills.

As for the music in the movie, most of the songs follow a standard show-tune model. However, they are emphasized with hip-hop and Afrobeat elements. The fan-favorite, “The Square Root of Possible,” sung by Mills, and “Make It Work,” sung and written by John Legend, could fit right into a Broadway musical.

This holiday season, you definitely won’t want to miss out on watching Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey. Stream it now on Netflix.
